Police Shoot, Kill Man Who Stole Water Taxi in Nevada
Bullhead City, AZ — A man was fatally shot by Bullhead City police after allegedly stealing a water taxi in nearby Laughlin, Nevada, and attempting to flee across the Colorado River.
According to authorities, the incident began when the suspect commandeered a commercial water taxi in Laughlin on Saturday. Local law enforcement notified Bullhead City police as the stolen vessel headed toward Arizona waters.
Police say the man ignored commands to stop and behaved erratically upon reaching the shoreline. Officers confronted him at the dock, where a confrontation escalated. Authorities report that the suspect made a threatening motion, prompting officers to open fire.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured. The incident is under investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Officials have not commented on the motive behind the theft or whether the suspect was armed. The water taxi was recovered with minimal damage.
This marks the second officer-involved shooting in Bullhead City this year.
