While Cal stepped onto the international stage for the Derby and won, the road there began a little northeast in a shed on the Raleighs’ property. Raleigh Ranch, as it’s called, is a batting cage with a weight room where Cal would work out countless hours, even into the early stages of his professional career in the offseason in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
