The busiest weekend of the summer is almost here, and Panama City Beach is preparing for the crowds.
Fourth of July weekend has become the peak of the tourist season in PCB. Most hotels and short-term rentals are already full or close to it. According to Visit Panama City Beach, average rental prices for this time of year typically top $300 per night.
Tourism officials expect more than 150,000 people in the area over the holiday weekend. That number includes locals, second homeowners, and vacationers coming just for the celebration.
One visiting family is turning the trip into a double celebration.
“It’s been a beach trip every single year for her birthday,” visitor Nathaniel said about his aunt. “So this is like a usual thing. She also loves fireworks, so it’s something we do every year.”
For those seeking fireworks, Panama City Beach has several shows lined up across three nights.
