HIGH DRAMA, HIGH-STAKES THRILLER Eala Stuns Ostapenko in Epic Comeback

The Filipina tennis star had already beaten Ostapenko during her incredible run to the semi-finals at the Miami Open in March.

And though Ostapenko, the third seed and 2017 French Open champion, started strongly against Eala with a 6-0 first set, the 20-year-old fought back to win the second set 6-2.

Eala was then 3-2 up in the decider when an ankle injury forced Ostapenko to retire.

Alexandra Eala eager for Wimbledon Eala, who had come through qualifying before beating Lucia Bronzetti in the opening round, is set to make her Wimbledon debut next week, with the first round of the grass-court Grand Slam starting on 30 June. She will discover her first-round opponent in Friday’s draw, with the world No. 74 playing just her second major after appearing at the French Open, where she lost in the opening round.
