Titans’ Treylon Burks, Former First-Round Pick, Out to ‘Prove Myself Right’ in Recovery from Torn ACL Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks is approaching a pivotal moment in his young NFL career. The former first-round pick, selected 18th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, is now on a mission to bounce back after suffering a torn ACL — one of the most feared injuries in football. As he works his way through the long and demanding rehab process, Burks isn’t just aiming to silence critics or answer external doubts. Instead, his focus is internal: to “prove myself right.” Burks entered the league with high expectations. Coming out of Arkansas, he was touted as a versatile playmaker with elite physical tools — size, speed, and strength — who could fill the void left by A.J. Brown. But injuries have slowed his progress. A disappointing rookie year filled with minor injuries and inconsistent production was followed by a second season that was ultimately cut short by the devastating knee injury. In just 11 games in 2023, Burks managed 16 receptions for 221 yards, far from the numbers expected of a first-round receiver. Now in recovery, Burks is attacking the rehab process with determination and maturity. His mindset has shifted from the pressure of living up to others’ expectations to a personal challenge — showing himself that he belongs in the league and can overcome adversity. “I know what I’m capable of,” he recently shared. “I’ve seen it, I’ve felt it. This is about proving to myself that I can come back better, stronger, and smarter.” The Titans, under new head coach Brian Callahan, are closely monitoring Burks’ progress. The team still believes in his talent, and his potential role in the offense remains significant. With DeAndre Hopkins still in the fold and the recent addition of Calvin Ridley, Burks won’t be forced to carry the load. Instead, he has the opportunity to develop at a pace that prioritizes his health and long-term contribution. The pressure may be lighter, but the opportunity to shine still exists — especially if he can find chemistry with young quarterback Will Levis. Rehabbing a torn ACL is never easy. The process is grueling and both mentally and physically taxing. But for Burks, it’s also a time of growth. He has reportedly been focused on the smallest details — from strengthening the muscles around his knee to studying film and improving his understanding of defensive coverages. Those close to him say he’s more locked in than ever. As the 2025 season approaches, Burks’ story is one to watch. If he can return to full strength, he still possesses all the traits of a breakout player — and the Titans’ offense could be better for it. Whether he becomes the player Tennessee envisioned when they drafted him remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Treylon Burks is not out to prove the doubters wrong — he’s out to prove himself right.
