
Former Denver Broncos Super Bowl Champion Dies Suddenly Overnight
The Denver Broncos community is mourning the unexpected loss of former linebacker Allen Aldridge Jr., who passed away overnight at the age of 52. Aldridge was a key contributor to the Broncos’ Super Bowl XXXII victory in 1998, and his sudden death has left fans and teammates alike in shock.

Drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft, Aldridge played four seasons in Denver from 1994 to 1997. He started 45 of 64 games during his tenure and was a pivotal member of the defense that secured the team’s first Super Bowl title. Notably, Aldridge made a crucial interception in the AFC Championship Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, helping propel the Broncos to the Super Bowl.
Following his time with the Broncos, Aldridge continued his NFL career with the Detroit Lions from 1998 to 2001. He concluded his playing days with the Houston Texans in 2002. Over his eight-season career, Aldridge appeared in 128 regular-season games, recording 482 combined tackles, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one interception.
After retiring from professional football, Aldridge transitioned into coaching. Since 2008, he served as the head football coach at Fort Bend Bush High School in Houston, Texas. Under his leadership, the team made eight playoff appearances, with a standout 10-2 season in 2012. Aldridge was known for using his Super Bowl ring as a motivational tool, demonstrating to his players that achieving greatness was possible.
